Gingershots

I kept seeing these recipes and due to my sulfite allergy buying them prepared is just an absolute no-go. So why- not. I finally made a few different ones. The below is my favorite- add honey or maple syrup if you do not like the kick.

Ingredients

50 g of fresh ginger- clean but leave the skin on- cut into bigger pieces

1 whole bio orange zest and white removed mostly

2 bio lemons cut off zest and the most of the white

2-3 stalks of  celery cut into pieces

1 tsp of turmeric

1/4 tsp salt

1/4 tsp pepper

1/4 tsp Cayenne pepper

2 cups of water

Instructions

Step 1

cut lemons and orange into big pieces.

Add celery, ginger, lemons, orange and water to blender and blend all together until it has the consistency of a smoothie.

Step 2

Pour through a sieve. At this point, you can add the pepper, salt, and turmeric. If you want to add honey or maple syrup this is also the time.

Step 3

Once you have stirred in the spices, shake well and pour into air tight bottles. Cool in fridge and – drink a shot every day.

Tips

You will likely need around 2 tbsp of maple syrup or honey- but taste. I do not use this, but then i really like it strong and i like the taste of ginger.

You could experiment with additional or less spices- the gingershot is still valid without the pepper- or you can add a bit of cinnamon instead of the pepper/cayenne. That also good- i would say 1/4 tsp of each of your preferred spices. But play around. you have to drink it- so start with no additional spices and work your way through.

The bottles will keep in the fridge for about a week. I just pour myself a shot every day-no need to buy special bottles for this- but up to you.
