Life with food challenges keeps evolving. I know this.

I have had years where, despite IBS and problems with fructose especially apples,  I could still have ½ apple during the pollen season and be okay.

This year however, I can not. Just one apple- and we have apples in the garden- and I start tearing up, have trouble breathing, bloating, get diarrhea the rest of the day. The whole fun experience.

I do not know yet, if it is the cross-allergy from Grass pollen allergy, which is quite common or if it is ‘just’ because this year was so long-extended for grass pollen season. Or maybe it is still ‘just’ the IBS with fructose hitting me. Or just maybe I am grasping straws, hoping that I can not just add another allergy. Because that is forever for even a single bite.

For now, I will look and smell and stay away from apples. When the pollen season is luckily a memory, I will try again. Watch this space. Or better yet, tell me how you are doing with grass pollen allergy and apples?
