Apple dessert- traditional Danish summer treat.
My husband loves this- simple old-fashioned Danish dessert. It is best eaten with just a bit of cream- and maybe even extra sugar if you like. I can not have any as Apples are very high FODMAP. Once in a while, I will make it, so I wanted to share the recipe here- simple and obviously the cooked apples are not on everyone’s no-list.

1 kg apples, cored, sliced and peeled
1/2 cup of water
75 g of sugar
1 vanilla bean, scraped into the cooking apple, then outer part cooked along .
Ingredients
For serving:
Cold cream or full-fat milk
extra sprinkle of sugar

1 kg apples, cored, sliced and peeled
1/2 cup of water
75 g of sugar
1 vanilla bean, scraped into the cooking apple, then outer part cooked along .
Instructions
Step 1
Prepare the apples and cook for 20 minutes over medium heat with the vanilla bean and water.
Add the sugar and cook for another 10 minutes
Step 2
leave to cool, remove the whole vanilla and serve then with chilled cream and sugar or macaroons.

Tips
You can create another dessert by laying macaroons with 1 dl of sherry. then adding the apples and top with whipped cream. That is called apple cake in Danish and was a childhood favorite of my husbands-still is actually.
For the cream i will use full-fat lactose free cream. Do not pour tons over- a little goes a long way or use full fat milk instead.
