I am always looking for good idea for alcohol free drinks as I am having more challenges with wine in the pollen season. These 2 syrups were great with fresh lime juice, ice cubes and sparkling water.
Add water and sugar to the sauce pan. Also add your chosen variation ingredients.
Heat while stirring until sugar is completely dissolved.
Leave to cool for 30 minutes, sieve and add the syrup to a clean, air tight bottle.
For your drinks; 2 tbsp simple syrup and combine with 2 tbsp of fresh lime or lemon juice. Top up with ice cubes and sparkling water. Taste and add a slice of lime, lemon, basil or mint leaves to your glass.
The sky is the limit for your drink in step 4. You can mottle some lime slices with mint and pour the syrup and juice on top. You can add to alcohol free wine or add festive umbrellas. I am sure you can also make the syrup with pomegranate for example. These types will keep in the fridge for at least a week, though they seldom last more than a few days, when we have guests in the house.
