The people who effortlessly include me in the plans for food. The people, with whom the conversation is not always based on wheat-based food. At where not every plan starts with: 'What is it again, that you can not eat?'. A conversation, starting with something we can all eat makes all the difference in the world.
A friend, who goes out of the way for finding a gluten free (does nto even have to be yummy) cake or serve dinner, which includes- not excludes anyone at the table.
Making this easier for you to include allergic friends and family was the reason behind Anyallergyfood.
Food allergy is a handicap you can not see, but it is also a journey that includes the whole social circle. I would not serve sugary dessert for a diabetic, so I hope you will not serve peanuts for a peanut allergic person, gluten for the coeliac, or mustard for me.
I am not an easy ‘a case’ because it is not crippling- epi pen need allergy, you see in the movies, but instead the I can not breathe’ unless I take 2 anti-histamines by exposure to wheat, buckwheat, sulfites or mustard.
The antihistamine leaves me feeling off balance and nauseous, but it is not life threatening and in that I am so lucky.
My food-friend are getting better educated as unfortunately we see more food allergies and intolerances. It makes it easier to be me, but it makes me unhappy that so many people have to travel this journey.
Not everyone has that social circle, who thinks inclusion- so let us all speak up. We all need to stand together to make the inclusion norm not exception.
